GOD NOTICES

Susan Galloway

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store
away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you
not much more valuable than they?”
(Matthew 6:26)

I have two dogs, I love them very much, they give me something to care for, they give me company, they give me love. Every day I get up at the crack of dawn for the first of our daily walks, then it’s time to feed them and see to their needs. Even though my dogs can’t speak to me I know them so well that I can tell from their expression, their body language, their energy what they are thinking and feeling. I can tell by the look in their eye when they are about do something they know will not be popular, like raid the waste by the bins in the park or steal my slippers and run away with them. I know when they want to be fed, and when they are happy or scared, and I know how to respond to them and how to provide what they need.

I often reflect on how amazing it is that God knows what we are thinking and feeling without us having to tell him. How he knows our needs and provides for them without us having to ask him. How he can send the solution to a problem sometimes even before we have prayed to him for help. He knows our body language; he hears our deep sighs, and he responds to us with love.

We may not always be noticing God, but God always notices us. He hears our groans, he hears our cries, and he sees our situation and, even when we are not aware, he is reaching out to each of us, in love, to provide what we need.

I pray that the Lord will help us to see him moving and working in our lives and help us to notice the needs of those around us so he may work through us to help provide for those needs. I give thanks to the Lord for always seeing, hearing and knowing our pain even when we do not reach out to him in prayer. I thank God that he knows us better than we know ourselves and for loving each and every one of us, even when it might appear that we have forgotten him.

Every blessing
Susan
