Our Session Clerk Steve Oliver is on a Fund Raising Trek

In August, catastrophic flash floods and landslides tore through central and northern Nepal, washing away entire villages, destroying vital bridges and roads, and leaving thousands of families stranded without clean water, food, or shelter.

I walked to Everest Base Camp in January 2012 and my strongest recollection is how hard life was for these remote Nepalese communities. It is unimaginable how difficult life now must be, and with the onset of winter it will get worse.

I’m trekking the 100 mile St Oswald’s Way starting on the 6th October from Lindisfarne to Heavenfield over eight days. There may be rain, cold and blisters, but whatever hardships we face are insignificant compared to what the Nepalese flood victims must deal with now and in the future.
